Over the weekend, Bakes4Good visited Feeding Westchester to see firsthand how millions of pounds of food reach neighbors in need. We learned how much planning and teamwork happens behind the scenes - and how our small efforts can be part of something much bigger.

About the event
On Saturday, Bakes4Good visited Feeding Westchester, a local food bank that has served the community for almost four decades. We were warmly welcomed by staff member William Lemoine, who graciously gave us a tour of the facility. According to Will, their mission is to help neighbors as best they can and alleviate the food struggles people in the community face.
As we walked through the facility, we were instantly wowed by the enormity of the warehouses. “It’s like a Costco,” Will joked. Last year, Feeding Westchester rescued 5.5 million pounds of food from going to waste and distributed 21.3 million pounds of food to people in need.
We learned that Feeding Westchester focuses solely on Westchester and operates hyperlocally, which is unusual for a food bank. Its facilities allow it to handle a wide range of items, from nonperishable foods and fresh produce to furniture and toys. Much of its…
